FAQs

Frequently asked questions and their respective answers.

  • Will sleep training harm my baby?

A lot of parents worry that sleep training can be harmful long term or not doing it can cause problems later on in their life. Dr Harriet Hiscocks is a paediatrician at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne Australia who has completed multiple long-term studies on this topic and has advise that “The science doesn’t support either of these fears”. There is a range of studies and research available on the internet.

  • Will there be crying?

With sleep training there will be times and some level of crying as your baby and child learns to sleep on their own and unassisted. We need to remember that crying is the only way our children and babies know how to communicate with us (especially when they tired, frustrated, sick or upset). Although there may be some tears while sleep training you will be able to be there for them when they need you and offer them support, comfort and reassurance as they learn to fall asleep on their own.

  • What sleep training methods do you use?

Sleeping Beauties Sleep School offers a range of different techniques and gentle methods to cater for the needs of families and different parenting styles.

  • When is the ideal time to start sleep training?

There are many things you can start doing an early age to help set up some positive sleep foundations. • How long does it take to see results?

Generally, it can take up to 21 days to see an association change but in saying that if consistent with your personalised sleep plan usually sleep can improve within a few days (all dependent on the process, age, stage and temperament of the child). Remember - Consistency is the key!

  • Do you offer sleep training for twins and multiples?

Yes! I specialise in sleep training twins and multiples. As a twin mum myself I have firsthand experience and I have worked with many families with multiples and have seen great results.

  • Does your sleep training involve cry it out methods?

I have completed extensive education and training on a range of sleep training methods from “no cry” to “cry it out”. Sleeping Beauties Sleep School offers a range of different methods and techniques to cater for all parenting styles and respects the decisions and choices made by each client.

  • What if my baby is sick?

If your baby or child becomes sick before implementing sleep training we will advise to hold off until they are better and healthy. For any serious sleep issues or concerns Sleeping Beauties Sleep School recommend you consult with a healthcare profession or doctor.

  • Will sleep training have an impact on the bond I have with my baby?
